>art, heart and HEALING

>I’ve joined the Art Heart and Healing group over at Willowing and Friends

Tam is a great teacher. The lesson I just finished taught us how to draw whimsey girls. the prompt was about healing a childhood trauma. This was my take.

The background is scrapbook paper that I altered a bit. The girls, and the dog are my own drawings! It really was fun to learn to draw them. I impressed myself! Didn’t know I had it in me.
The journaling. If you aren’t familiar with the song and how it came about, there’s a video here that explains it. The sound isn’t the best, but it does a great job explaining why the song was written.
Oh, and there’s lots of great pictures of Ricky Nelson to sigh over. 🙂

>The Elements of Art Journaling

>Anyone who’s visited my blog before, knows how much I love Wild Precious Studio! It’s a mellow place that I go to learn, share and get inspiration. This is one of the pages that I did in response to a prompt at Wild Precious.

I know I’ve shared this before, I’m sharing again to let you know that Effie Wild, our (mostly) fearless leader is offering an e-course The Elements of  Art Journaling. Effie is a sweetie! She always comes up with wonderful prompts and ideas. She’s developed a community that is filled with support.

If you’d like more info about the e-course just click.

If not and you just need a safe place to connect with other journalers come on over an join in. I know I’,m glad I did!

>I love Prompts!

>I’ve combined a few prompts with this journal entry.

There’s CeeLo Green’s song F*ck You, done for A Year in the Life of an Art Journal It’s a little tough to read, on the right side is the line…although there’s pain in my chest, I still wish you the best, from the song. I love this song, and probably everyone who’s not living in a cave has heard it. I added the * for my sister. (*waving at Sue*)

Also Wild Precious week 2 of 52 weeks. The Prompt was Filter. The background included a lot of the techniques shown for Week 18 Wild Precious Art Journal

As you can see I’ve included a few Octopodes just for fun.

I’m so amazed, and greatful for all the wonderful artists out there sharing and teaching.
Thanks for stoppin’ bye!

>One pill makes you larger, one pill makes you small….

>*giggle* Just so happens that I have an atc and a 12×12. (The Octopode on my ATC is Alice.) Perfect, eh?

I finally took some time to do a layout with photos of Hubby and Smokey from Easter. This is what happens when you let DGD pass out the bunny ears. She sneeks up behind Papa and just puts them on his head.

Have a great weekend!

>A bunch of stuff!

>This page was done for a prompt at Wild Precious in combination with several prompts at Green Isles Crafts
I never know which way my brain is going to go. I just write the prompts down on a post-it and let things flow.

This one started as another for Wild Precious for stenciling. I wasn’t happy with it. I added a ton of paint. Used some potty paper tubes for stamps added a tad of this a tad of that.
Voila! An ATC background page! Which just happened to be another prompt. (always kill as many birds as you can with the same stone.)

In other news, Teesha from Green Isles Crafts, is giving away a scholarship for her most awesome workshop on how to make a Rustic Journal!!
Click here to go to her blog for the details and watch a teaser video! Good luck!
Oh and BTW, no birds were harmed in the making of this post or pages. 😉

>Meet Saffy Safflower

>I ordered this print from  Etsy on May 6th, it arrived at my home on May 14th, and she traveled all the way across the ‘big pond’!!
Wow!! What service.

Customisable Art Print – Saffy Safflower

The print is gorgeous! The paper the crispness, you’ve got to see it to believe it!

I don’t know if we can explain what it is about a piece of art that calls to us. Saffy kept calling me back. I can’t tell you how many times I went back and looked at her before I hit the buy button.

After I ordered her, I was sorting some files in my computer. There she was…Saffy’s little sister, looking right at me.

Do you see the resemblance?

That’s a drawing done by my 5yo Granddaughter. It made me smile. (the hair was actually supposed to be dreadlocks). She’s a  little artist in the making.

So I love them both, and they will hang on my wall together.

I’d also ordered a couple of  Rosie’s printable collage sheets. She really does wonderful work! Maybe there’s something in her Etsy Store that will call to you.

>Walk a mile…

>*waving*

This page has been in the back of my mind for a while.  The background I’d done some time ago.  I just scribbled with a green watercolor crayon and washed over it. I inked with the punchinellia, and went over it all with a blueish Glimmer Mist.

Then I covered the whole thing up with shoes!! I’m sure you can tell that some of the letters are stickers, some were stamped, and just a tiny bit of my own handwriting!

The Rodney I’m referring to, of course, the infamous Rodney King.

PS I’d been searching everywhere for the  punchinellia, Joanns, Michaels, and Hobby Lobby looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for. As did the lady at the florist, until the lightbulb in her head went on, and she realized what I was describing! Whoo hoo, took me a long time to locate it locally.

PPS for my brother and sister who may read this and still won’t know…. punchinellia, is sequin waste. it’s a piece of plastic ribbon that’s the left over after they punch out the sequins.
